Frequently Asked Questions

  • I photographed my first wedding in 2009 and have had the pleasure to play a part in over 300 weddings since then. You might say I have some experience.

  • ABSOLUTELY. Love is love :)

  • I shoot with Nikon professional equipment. I use two D850 bodies on wedding days and an assortment of Nikkor lenses which change depending on location and the feel I am going for with the images. I also have lighting equipment at my disposal if the venue or shoot requires it. If you are a gear head I can give you a list of what I use.

  • Yes. All of my equipment is insured and I have $1 million in liability insurance. Some venues require having liability insurance and I am happy to provide that certificate if needed.

  • Absolutely! I have been fortunate enough to photograph couples all over Michigan and have been flown as far away as Jamaica to shoot. Like most people I love to travel, so if your event is not in the Detroit area, shoot me a message and I can come up with a custom quote for you.

  • Aside from the quality of the photographs I like to think I create a fun atmosphere while shooting. My couples have told me that I have a calming influence, which is great during a crazy day, and that I can make them comfortable in front of the camera. Most people I photograph aren’t models which means it is my job to make you comfortable in front of the camera. I think it is something I am pretty good at.

  • Yes. I require 50% at the signing of the contract with the remaining balance due 30 days prior to the event.

  • Item descriptionI accept personal check as well as Venmo.

  • As soon as possible! It isn’t uncommon for couples to book me 12-18 months prior to a wedding day and I have booked weddings 1-2 months prior to their date. The chances I am available increase the sooner you reach out.

  • Every wedding is different but I typically deliver close to 1000± images from a full day of shooting. Delivery typically takes between 1-2 months after a wedding date and fluctuates based on my workload at any given time during wedding season. A January wedding will get out the door faster than an August wedding. Regardless of the timetable I make sure to communicate when you can expect your images.

  • You will receive a black and white version of each image. No need to pick and choose, you get them all!

  • It depends on the scope of the wedding as well as the logistics. I shoot most of my wedding alone and I am perfectly capable of doing so, but if you and your partner are getting ready in different locations, it could be tough for me to photograph both of you in the morning. A second shooter helps with that. I am happy to chat with you about that to see if a second shooter is a good option for you.

  • The more time the better but it really depends on variables like the size of your wedding party and the locations you want to utilize. Two hours seems to be the sweet spot but we can make your schedule work regardless.

  • Planners can be invaluable and I know some great ones if you would like recommendations. Even using one for “day of” planning can help the day run more smoothly. I don’t do any planning myself but I tend to wear many hats on a wedding day. I am always mindful of the timeline and work with planners on making sure everything goes according to plan.

  • Yes! You own the images and receive a print release with the photographs so you can print them wherever you would like. I do own some rights to the images as well for promotional use. I will never sell your images and if you have any issues with them being displayed we can work something out.

  • I do not. I can recommend some great videographers though.

  • Unfortunately I do not. Film would actually hamper my process on a wedding day and ultimately limit what you receive.

  • I do not at this time.

  • Yes! I have some testimonials in the “Praise” section of this website and have even more on my Knot listing.

  • Each image you receive has been edited to some extent for color, exposure, contrast etc. More extensive editing can be done for a hourly rate but those instances are rare and I would be happy to go through some examples of those occasions with you.

  • RAW images can only be viewed and processed with certain image software. I only like to provide a final, edited product so I typically don’t provide RAW images. I have photographed other photographers and creatives in the past who have wanted them and I’ve provided them for a fee of $1000 with a hard drive included.

  • Yes. You can extend coverage whenever you like and if the day is running a bit behind I am happy to tack on some extra time for you at an hourly rate.

  • Both of us. I always ask my couples to look through their images and pick their favorites that they want included in the book. From there I tend to choose images to fill in the gaps and tell the story of your day. You can have as much input or as little input as you like in the design process.

  • YES! Detroit is for Lovers is just me and I like to provide hands-on service. I photograph all of my weddings.

  • I have never been too sick to shoot a wedding. (Knock on wood) With that said I am part of a really great local network of wedding photographers who all look out for one another. If anything was to happen there would be plenty of great options to fill in and I would do all I can to aid that process.
